My name is Kathy Pittman. I live in Loves Park, IL with my husband Tim, my two boys Austin and Jacob and our beloved dog Maddie.
Like most photographers, I got started by taking pictures of my boys. They were constantly changing and I wanted to capture every second; the good, the bad, and the ugly! I won some awards and it seemed I really had a knack for photography. After much encouragement from family and friends, I decided to become a professional photographer.
My goal is to provide unique photography not found in the box stores. One of my biggest aggravations when my children were tiny was picture day. We always had an appointment and yet we sat in the waiting room for an hour. We were ready when we got there, clean clothes, my kids had smiles on their faces……and then……something went terribly wrong. Waiting and waiting, as we sat there, listening to the children from behind the infamous curtain crying in frustration, the photographer desperately tried to make them smile. First it was squeaky sounds, then laughing and then some high pitched squeal that was followed up by the fake sneeze. You could hear the parents at first promising fruit snacks, then m&m’s, then ice cream, and then……..PUNISHMENT. By the time it was our turn, my kids had touched every possible item in the lobby, grabbed and swallowed every last germ and at this point, were no longer happy. They were hungry, hot, and frustrated that we hadn’t left yet. My husband and I were at the end of our rope. Still, we kept our appointment.
On and On
In that span of first year pictures, we went through all of their backgrounds and props from the beautiful sky backdrop with big billowy clouds (ugh) to the baseball glove that had been used over and over and over again. STOP! It doesn’t have to be this way! Please let me help you avoid our frustration.
How I Work
I offer a private one hour session for families and children, and up to 2 hours for newborn babies. I won’t double book my clients causing you to wait on me. I spend time with you getting to know your wants and needs. I encourage my clients to get out of the studio and try new locations. Photography is constantly evolving. With the help of Facebook and other social networking media, clients are more aware of their options and what is available to them. I am constantly striving to learn new techniques and to stay on the cutting edge to bring you the best possible portraits that you will treasure for a life time!
